FAQs

What is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol.  CBD is a cannabinoid; a type of naturally occurring compound found in plants from the cannabis family, including the hemp plant.  One characteristic of hemp in particular is that it is high in the compound CBD.

Throughout history, different varieties of cannabis plants have been grown for both industrial and medicinal uses and it is one of the oldest domesticated crops.  These applications for the plant tend to be familiar but it is less well known that the human body actually produces its own cannabinoids.  The first cannabinoids were found in the body comparatively recently, just over two decades ago.

What is the endocannabinoid system?

The endocannabinoid system is the means by which cannabinoids, such as CBD, are received within the human body.  Within this system, there are two main types of receptors; CB1 and CB2 receptors.

CB1 receptors are found in the brain and reproductive organs.  CB2 receptors are primarily found in the immune system.  This is an important system within the body, performing a variety of functions related to the maintenance of health and well being.

What can CBD oil be used for?

All of our CBD products are sold as food supplements.  Unfortunately, we cannot make any health claims due to legal restrictions.  However, we encourage you to do your own research if you haven't done so already as there is a vast array of easy to find information available for free online.

We know that many of our customers are already well informed but for those who need it we are confident that an internet search will provide you with all the information you might need regarding potential uses for CBD supplements.

Will CBD get me high?

This is a common question due to CBD being derived from plants in the Cannabis family. The compound in cannabis that is responsible for the high is a distinct and separate compound from CBD and it is known as THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).

CBD oil from a trusted source with supporting lab reports that document correct levels of CBD will not make you high.

Is CBD legal in the UK?/ Outside the UK?

CBD is not considered a controlled substance in the UK and information to this effect can be viewed in the Home Office letter below.  It is therefore 100% legal.

This is also the case for many, but not all, other countries in Europe and around the world.  We advise checking the rules applicable to your own country if you are not sure.

Can I travel with CBD?

Although in countries where CBD is legal this should not theoretically be a problem we would advise against travelling with CBD at the present time.  We advise this to ensure you avoid any unnecessary complications or delays since this product may be unfamiliar to airport staff and invite questions.

We would encourage you to make your own enquiries prior to travelling should you decide it is important for you to have with you.
